Job requirements

Main Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Splicing single-mode fiber, preferably both on and offshore

  • OTDR measurements and analysis, test report writing

  • Site visits to do or supervise scheduled maintenance at CLSs

  • Managing vendors that take care of the CLSs (security, general facility maintenance, fences, generators, pest control, etc.)

  • Installation and commissioning of IP/MPLS equipment and optical transmission equipment

  • Read, understand, and follow detailed scopes of work for projects and follow dispatch summaries of jobs

  • Actively work with network teams to help program equipment as needs arise

  • Constantly evaluate warehouse effectiveness relating to fiber equipment as needs evolve

  • Assist with the management of storage locations of fiber equipment

  • Maintain and keep records of fiber equipment on hand

  • Ship fiber equipment to assets on an as-needed basis

  • Continuously evaluate operational efficiencies in materials management and participate in continuous improvement efforts

  • Remain capable of supporting work through technical training

  • Lead or participate in after-action reviews

  • Actively comply, enforce, and participate in Tampnet HSEQ policies and procedures

  • Ensure that safety risks and business risks associated with activities are assessed and that appropriate checks, controls, and precautions are taken into consideration

  • Participate in emergency response team as necessary

  • Represent Tampnet in a professional manner while following all customer policies

  • Travel to remote locations as needed via air, land, and sea

  • Become and/or maintain proficiency in MS Office (i.e Excel & Word)

  • Contribute to a positive work environment in the team/department

  • Perform other technical tasks within his/her area of expertise

Qualification requirements

  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in the industry, preferred optical technology

  • Must currently have and maintain a valid US Driver’s License with a clean driving record

  • Maintain or be able to maintain TWIC Card

  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs

  • Willingness to travel, including occasional travel to international locations
