Tampnet is in need of two (2) part-time employees for our Network Operations Center in Katy, Tx!

The Network Operations Center (NOC) primarily serves the offshore industry and operates 24/7 on a rotating schedule that includes day, evening, and night shifts. The NOC is the hub of activity at Tampnet and you will work in a team that serves as the central point of contact for several departments, including Mobile, LTE, Satellite, Microwave, Subsea Fibre, Optics, and MPLS.

You will receive thorough training from the team, be assigned a mentor, and tasks will be adjusted based on your level of expertise.

Job requirements

The Operations Technician (OT) is part of the Network Operations Centre (NOC) Team. The main tasks will be customer support, which involves receiving, registering, resolving, and monitoring customer queries and events from our monitoring systems and other relevant tasks related to the NOC function.

 

This position averages approximately 20 hours per week, with most hours scheduled on weekends (Saturday and Sunday) and occasional weekday evening assignments and holidays. Initial training will be conducted during weekday day shifts (Monday–Friday). Work schedules are subject to change in accordance with business requirements. This position is on-site.

Main responsibility and tasks

  • Perform general operational duties

  • Responsible for receiving customer calls and working with customers to understand and resolve technical issues

  • Responsible for completing daily / nightly NOC checklists and archive reports

  • Coordination of planned work in the network

  • SLA Uptime Calculations and Reporting

  • Administration of users

  • Analyzing events/incidents

  • Problem Solving

  • Contribute to a positive work environment in the team/department

  • In an emergency, an alternative Operation Center may be established temporarily outside Tampnet Inc. in Houston

  • Perform other technical tasks within their area of expertise

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum Computer Science, Telecom or similar degree program, or equivalent work-related experience

  • Strong analytic and communication skills (written and verbal).
